What does '1-year' mean?

I keep seeing '1 year' in the title of InPixio Photo Studio 10 Pro i recently bought, and not sure what that means? I hope it doesn't mean after 1 year i cannot use it anymore and have to pay all over again??? Maybe it means no more automatic updates?

We offer a subscription plan for InPixio products now. The annual renewal of InPixio allows you to enjoy the best use of your software and to have access to the latest upgrades, new software releases, features, updated content, new filters, and effects.
Please note that as of December 2020, it will no longer be possible to purchase perpetual licenses.
Any licenses purchased before December 2020, will remain valid and will continue working indefinitely according to its corresponding licensing terms.

So the way I interpret their response is renewals each year are not mandatory, the renewal just allows for you to continue to get any new updates for the program?

InPixo team, still a little bit confused. Example: Scenario 1: I purchase latest version for $50....if a new version comes out before my 1 year is up, I get the next version for free (only good for 1 year?). So what happens during the next version - I have to pay for the next version for another $50 or will it now depend on the new version's price? So the initial payment will only be for what you purchased + the next version, in essence, the initial payment will only be good for 2 versions of the software
2. Scenario 2 - what if a newer version comes out after my 1 year subscription, do I still get the newer version for free.
In reality, the maximum versions I can have is 2 versions based on scenario 1. So when version 3 comes out and you just want to stay in your current version, the software will still work. so now if you want to upgrade to version 3 you would have to pay (would there be an upgrade price or do you have to pay the full price).
I did the trial and quite impressed, so kindly advise before I purchase the software.

I’m so glad that you are enjoying our product. These are great questions. I’ve answered them numerically, as you sent them–I hope that’s alright.
1 So, you purchased an InPixio software and if a newer version comes out before your 1 year is up you will get the next version for free. According to the subscription policy, you will get all new software upgrades within your active subscription.
2 Your plan will renew automatically on your annual renewal date until you cancel your plan. Renewal rates are subject to change, but we'll always notify you beforehand. From my experience, it will be the current price for the software package on the official website.
3 If a newer version comes out after your 1-year subscription and your plan is canceled, you can continue using the version you have purchased but you will not be upgraded to the newest package for free.
4 When version 3 comes out and you want to stay with your current version the software will still work as the subscription plan doesn't have impact on the program functionality.
